Frequently Asked

What can I expect from coaching?

You can expect to be deeply listened to and supported in a safe, non-judgmental space where all of you is free to show up. You can expect to be challenged, to be faced with aspects of yourself or your perception you weren’t previously aware of, and to gain clarity about yourself you weren’t able to see before. You can expect to be equipped with ideas, exercises, and tangible tools to help bring clarity, empowerment, and growth.

What happens during a coaching session?

Sessions start with coming to an agreement on what the focus of the session will be. Then we explore, uncover, and make space for whatever emerges. This means a lot of questions, conversation, gentle challenging. It might also involve somatic or visualization exercises. Sessions end with reflection and identifying next steps.

What's the difference between coaching and therapy?

There can be overlap between modalities of therapy and coaching––there are many kinds of therapists and coaches. Generally, however, coaches come alongside clients as peers rather than experts, and coaches tend to be more focused on concrete action and accountability to change.

When choosing a healing professional to work with, that person’s philosophy & expertise, along with your ability to connect with them personally, are often the most important factors. Finding someone you feel safe being vulnerable with and doing deep work with is paramount.

I am not qualified to diagnose medical conditions or treat mental disorders. If there comes a time where past trauma or current conditions consistently impede forward motion, I may suggest you seek help from a medical professional.

Do you only coach Christians?

While my expertise and personal experience are in Christianity, I am open to coaching any and all. Book a free consult, and we can see if working together would be a good fit.

How long does it take to see progress from coaching?

Neuroscience tells us that it takes 3-6 months for new pathways to form in the brain. In other words, unlearning old habits or solidifying new ways of thinking takes 3-6 months.

While I have helped some clients achieve a goal in a single session (such as making a big decision or gaining clarity about a particular situation), long-term transformation will take longer.

I generally suggest that people anticipate doing at least 8-12 sessions for deeper work.
